The Pointer is a large dog that was originally bred as a gun dog. They have a short coat that requires little grooming. An active dog, the Pointer requires regular exercise. An intelligent dog and easy to train, should be socialized and trained from an early age as they tend to be timid. Pointers make a good family pet, they are patient with children and good with other animals.
